UTTARAKHAND: Dhami on the Tractor Steering Wheel: A Symbol of Grounded and People-Centric Leadership

Haridwar/Libbarheri: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami once again underlined his deep connect with the grassroots through a vibrant roadshow and Jan Samvad (public dialogue) program held in Libbarheri village of Haridwar district. His actions and words reflected a leadership style rooted in public service and engagement.

Going beyond mere rhetoric, Chief Minister Dhami took the wheel of a tractor, sending a strong symbolic message of solidarity with the farming community. By stepping off the conventional stage and taking to the field, quite literally, he presented himself not just as a policymaker but as a hands-on leader, connected to the everyday struggles of the people.

“Farmers are the backbone of our nation. Driving a tractor is not just symbolic—it’s my way of saluting their relentless hard work,” he said, drawing enthusiastic applause from the gathering.

The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), recently implemented in Uttarakhand. Addressing concerns and clarifying misconceptions, the Chief Minister said, “UCC is neither anti-religion nor anti-community. It upholds the constitutional principles of equality, transparency, and justice, fulfilling the vision of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.”

Dhami used the occasion to highlight key government initiatives aimed at inclusive growth, including modern training for farmers, startup support for youth, improved irrigation and road infrastructure, and enhanced healthcare services.

“Our vision of development is not limited to urban centres. We aim to reach the last village and the last citizen. That is what true inclusive development means,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister’s presence in Libbarheri was less about political spectacle and more about genuine public engagement. His modesty, grassroots interaction, and candid conversations painted the picture of a leader who prefers to be seen not as a political figure, but as a public servant.

From tractor driving to transparent dialogue on complex issues like UCC, every gesture reaffirmed that Uttarakhand is moving towards a leadership model built not just on policies and plans, but also on empathy, values, and inclusive governance.
