The Center has approved assistance Rs 100 crore for tourism development in Rishikesh. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to the Center for aid.

1st installment of Rs 66 crore has been released. 

DEHRADUN: The Union Finance Ministry has approved an amount of Rs 100 crore as grant for tourism development in Rishikesh. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for releasing a special loan (assistance) of Rs 66 crore to Uttarakhand under the ‘Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment 2024-25 Scheme’ on behalf of the Central Government.

The Union Finance Ministry has sanctioned a total of Rs 100 crore under the scheme for various projects under the Tourism Department in the pilgrimage city of Rishikesh, out of which Rs 66 crore has been released as the first installment. While Rs 34 crore of the second installment will be released after spending up to 75 percent of the first phase assistance. 

According to government sources, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was trying for this special financial assistance for a long time. He had also talked to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman about this. Expressing his gratitude to the Central Government for this, CM Dhami observed that, with the financial assistance received, the government will develop Rishikesh as a better tourist city.
