DEHRADUN: Honey extraction commenced for this season at the Chief Minister’s residence complex on Tuesday with the extraction of 57 kg of honey in the first phase. This year the target has been set at about 200 kg of honey.
Taking the bee-keeping work as a pilot project, the Chief Minister directed the Horticulture Department to organize a Honey Festival. In which all bee-derived products will be showcased. Additionally, a fixed annual date for the festival will be determined soon.
On the occasion CM Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasised that there are immense possibilities of beekeeping in Uttarakhand. He said that the state has abundant species of flowers, which are helpful in producing high quality organic honey. People should be trained to prepare honey with medicinal properties in hilly areas. People should be made aware to promote beekeeping.
On this occasion, Horticulture in-charge Deepak Purohit and Chairman Devbhoomi Parvatiya Gramodyog Vikas Sansthan Herbertpur Ajay Kumar Saini were present.
