UTTARAKHAND NEWS: Journalist Welfare & Pension Scheme Committee Approves Aid for Journalists

DEHRADUN: The Journalist Welfare Fund and the Chief Minister’s Journalist Samman Pension Scheme Committee convened a meeting at the Information Directorate on March 24, chaired by Director General, Information, Banshidhar Tiwari.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed 11 applications seeking assistance under the Journalist Welfare Fund. After thorough consideration, financial aid totaling ₹30 lakh was recommended for six eligible cases. Notably, this includes support for the family of the late journalist Manjul Singh Majila, who tragically passed away last month while covering the National Games.

DG, Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, informed that applicants with incomplete records would be given an opportunity to submit the necessary documents through the District Information Officers of their respective districts. These cases will be reconsidered in the next committee meeting.

Regarding the Chief Minister’s Journalist Samman Pension Scheme, one application was presented; however, due to insufficient documentation, the case was deferred to the next meeting.

The final approval of the committee’s recommendations will be granted by the committee’s chairman and the Chief Minister.

The meeting was attended by non-official members of the Journalist Welfare Fund Committee, including journalist representatives BD Sharma, DD Mittal, Nisha Rastogi, and Dinesh Joshi. Additional Director of the Information Department, Ashish Kumar Tripathi, and Joint Director KS Chauhan were also present.
