Uttarakhand News: MoU between State Govt and ITBP will play an important role in increasing local livelihood: Dhami

MoU between State Govt and ITBP for supply of local products. Annual turnover of 200 crores is expected from this.

DEHRADUN: An agreement is signed between the Uttarakhand Government and ITBP at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday, October 30, in the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna. Under the Vibrant Village Scheme, the MoU for the supply of local products, live goat/sheep, chicken and fish for the ITBP battalion deployed in Uttarakhand is signed by Secretary Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam from Uttarakhand Government and IG Sanjay Gunjyal from ITBP.

Chief Minister Dhami said that while this agreement will increase the livelihood of the people at the local level, they will feel that in some way or the other we are connected with the security of the country. This will also increase the contact of the local people with the ITBP. He said that the people living in the border areas are the sentinels of the country. ITBP will act as a brand ambassador to promote the local products of the state. The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that the availability of local products of the state remains in sufficient quantity. He said that a plan should be made to make arrangements for the supply of vegetables, milk, cheese, eggs to the ITBP from the state.

Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that this important decision has been taken to increase the livelihood of livestock farmers and fish farmers. For this, he thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He said that this will also help in stopping migration.

This agreement will directly benefit more than 11 thousand livestock farmers through more than 80 cooperative societies of the state.  In which 7 thousand women are mainly included. 10 thousand sheep and goat rearers, more than 800 poultry farmers and more than 500 fish farmers will benefit from this. This is the first time in Uttarakhand that such a large number of sheep, goat, fish and poultry farmers are being provided a market for marketing. An annual turnover of 200 crores is expected from this.

Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Dilip Jawalkar and ITBP officials were present on this occasion.
