UTTARAKHAND: Special Summer Train Between Bangalore-Rishikesh from 19 June

Dehradun/Bangalore: In response to the surge in passenger demand during the summer season, Indian Railways will launch a special train service connecting Yesvantpur Junction in Bangalore to Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. The new service aims to provide a convenient and direct travel option for tourists, devotees, and residents traveling between South India and the Himalayan region.

Railway officials announced that the special train will depart from Bangalore on June 19, with additional trips scheduled for June 26 and July 3. The return journeys from Rishikesh will take place on June 21, June 28, and July 5.

The train’s route will pass through key cities such as Kurnool, Kazipet, Nagpur, Gwalior, Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi), Haridwar, and Roorkee, enhancing connectivity and strengthening cultural and economic ties between South India and Uttarakhand.

Officials stated that the initiative is expected to significantly reduce travel congestion during peak summer days and provide relief to passengers traveling for pilgrimage, tourism, or personal reasons. Given the positive response and the growing demand, many believe this special train could eventually be converted into a regular service in the future.

The new train is also anticipated to give a boost to pilgrimage tourism in Uttarakhand, especially in destinations like Rishikesh and Haridwar, which witness a heavy footfall during the summer and monsoon seasons.
