All Agencies Must Remain on High Alert: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami
Chief Minister directs disaster response agencies to stay fully prepared amid heavy rainfall warning in Uttarakhand
Dehradun, August 5, 2026:
In view of continuous rainfall across Uttarakhand and the weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday morning spoke with Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman over the phone to review the prevailing situation in various districts of the state.
The Chief Minister directed all disaster management and relief agencies to remain on high alert and ensure complete preparedness to effectively tackle any emergency arising due to adverse weather conditions.
CM Dhami instructed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), district administrations, police, fire services, health department, and all other concerned agencies to work in close coordination and immediately initiate rescue and relief operations whenever required.
He emphasized continuous monitoring of landslide-prone and vulnerable areas, close surveillance of river and stream water levels, and timely evacuation of people from high-risk locations whenever necessary.
The Chief Minister also directed all District Magistrates to keep their District Emergency Operation Centres (DEOCs) operational round the clock and ensure prompt response to every incident. He reiterated that preventing loss of human life remains the government’s highest priority and instructed officials to discharge their responsibilities with utmost alertness and sensitivity.
Orange Alert for Three Districts
Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman informed that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Dehradun, Chamoli, and Bageshwar for Thursday, while a Yellow Alert has been issued for the remaining districts of Uttarakhand.
The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, and strong winds. Considering the prevailing weather conditions, all concerned departments have been placed on alert, while the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) is continuously monitoring the situation across the state.
Advisory for Residents and Tourists
The Disaster Management Secretary appealed to residents and tourists visiting Uttarakhand to take weather advisories seriously, avoid unnecessary travel, and check the latest weather and road conditions before undertaking any journey.
He also urged people not to believe or circulate rumors and to rely only on official information issued by the government and district administration.
Secretary Suman stated that all disaster management agencies are fully equipped with the required manpower, rescue teams, and emergency resources to respond effectively to any situation.
