Achhnera–Tanakpur Express to Halt at Banbasa Railway Station; Railway Minister Approves Stop

In a major relief for residents of Uttarakhand’s border region, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the regular stoppage of Train No. 15093/15094 Achhnera–Tanakpur Express at Banbasa Railway Station following a request from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The Railway Minister conveyed the decision through an official communication to the Chief Minister. The approval has been granted keeping public convenience and regional connectivity in mind.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for accepting the state’s request. He said the decision would provide significant convenience to residents of the border areas, traders, students, defence personnel and their families, employees, and pilgrims.
The Chief Minister stated that the new stoppage will strengthen rail connectivity in the Kumaon region while making travel more convenient for thousands of passengers. Banbasa, located near the India-Nepal border, is an important railway station, and the stoppage is expected to benefit local commuters as well as visitors travelling to and from the region.
He further said that the decision would boost regional trade, tourism, and economic activities while reflecting the Central Government’s commitment to improving transport infrastructure in Uttarakhand.
The approval is being seen as a significant step toward strengthening public transport facilities and fulfilling a long-pending demand of the people living in the state’s border areas.
