CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Directs Strict Action Against Hoarding, Black Marketing and Profiteering
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed senior government officials to ensure effective control over the prices of essential commodities across Uttarakhand and ensure their availability to the public at reasonable rates.
The Chief Minister instructed the authorities to take strict action against those involved in black marketing, hoarding and profiteering and attempting to artificially increase the prices of essential commodities.
Dhami directed the Food and Civil Supplies Department and other concerned departments to regularly monitor the availability, prices and stock position of essential commodities in markets across the state. Officials have been asked to ensure that no artificial shortage is created at any level and that consumers are not charged more than the prescribed or reasonable market rates.
Continuous Monitoring of Demand and Supply
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of the demand-and-supply situation in the market. He directed officials to take timely and effective measures whenever a shortage of essential commodities or an abnormal rise in prices is detected.
He said that close coordination among departments is essential to maintain a stable supply chain and prevent unnecessary price increases from affecting the public.
Regular Market Inspections Across Districts
Dhami instructed district administrations to conduct regular inspections of markets. During these inspections, officials will check the prescribed prices, prevailing market rates and stock levels of essential commodities.
Authorities have also been directed to verify compliance with applicable rules and standards by traders and business establishments. Strict action will be taken against those found involved in black marketing, hoarding, profiteering or violating prescribed norms.
Public Interest to Remain the Government’s Priority
The Chief Minister said the state government is committed to protecting the interests of the general public. Unnecessary increases in the prices of essential commodities directly affect household budgets, making effective and transparent price-monitoring mechanisms particularly important.
He directed the state government and district administration officials to work in close coordination and maintain continuous vigilance over market conditions. Any complaint regarding irregularities, overcharging, hoarding or shortage of essential commodities should be addressed promptly.
The Chief Minister further emphasized that the administration must ensure a smooth supply of essential commodities, their availability at reasonable prices and immediate corrective action wherever irregularities are detected.
