Surprise Inspections of Petrol Pumps Continue in Dehradun; Stock, Measurement and Fuel Quality Checked

Dehradun:
The District Supply Department has intensified surprise inspections of petrol pumps across Dehradun to ensure that consumers receive petrol and diesel in the prescribed quantity and of standard quality. As part of the ongoing exercise, a petrol pump was inspected on Thursday under the leadership of District Supply Officer K.K. Agrawal, with officials conducting a detailed verification of fuel stock, measurement systems, quality standards and relevant records.

Underground Fuel Stock Verified Against Records

During the inspection, officials checked the quantity of petrol and diesel stored in the underground tanks at the petrol pump. The physical stock was matched with the quantities recorded in the stock register. The actual stock was found to be in accordance with the records maintained by the establishment.

All Fuel Dispensing Nozzles Meet Measurement Standards

The inspection team also thoroughly checked the measurement accuracy of all nozzles dispensing petrol and diesel. The quantity of fuel being delivered through all the nozzles was found to be in accordance with the prescribed standards, ensuring that consumers were receiving the required quantity of fuel against their payment.

E20 Petrol Quality Also Tested

The quality of E20 petrol was also examined during the inspection as per the prescribed procedure. Officials found that the ethanol content in the petrol was within the stipulated standards.

In addition, the team examined other records related to fuel quality, measurement systems and stock maintenance to verify compliance with applicable requirements.

Petrol pump representative Prashant Rawat was also present during the inspection and extended the necessary cooperation to the departmental team throughout the verification process.

Consumer Interest Top Priority: K.K. Agrawal

District Supply Officer Dehradun K.K. Agrawal said that protecting consumer interests is the department’s highest priority. He said surprise and regular inspections of petrol pumps across the district would continue to ensure that consumers receive petrol and diesel in the prescribed quantity and as per standard quality norms.

He made it clear that if any irregularity is detected in fuel quantity, quality, stock or supply arrangements, necessary action will be taken against the concerned establishment in accordance with the rules.

According to the District Supply Department, regular inspections are aimed at maintaining transparency in petrol pump operations, ensuring compliance with prescribed standards and safeguarding the rights and interests of consumers. The exercise will also help ensure greater accountability among petrol pump operators regarding fuel quality, accurate measurement and proper stock maintenance.
