Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Gyan Ganga Samman Samaroh and Scholarship Distribution Programme’ organised by the Kusum Kanta Foundation and Manthan Welfare Association at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan, located at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, on Tuesday.

During the programme, the Chief Minister honoured teachers for their contribution to education and presented scholarships to meritorious students. He congratulated the award-winning teachers and scholarship recipients and wished them a bright and successful future.

CM Dhami said that the ‘Gyan Ganga Samman Samaroh’ is not merely an event for honouring teachers and distributing scholarships, but a commendable initiative aimed at recognising talent, encouraging education and giving wings to the dreams of students. He said supporting a child’s education is not merely financial assistance but also an opportunity to become a partner in fulfilling the child’s dreams.

Teachers Have a Major Role in Nation Building

Paying tribute to late Kusum Kanta, the Chief Minister said her dedication to music, literature and education remains an inspiration. He said the Kusum Kanta Foundation has been doing commendable work for the past six years in areas including education, women’s empowerment, skill development, digital literacy and environmental protection, carrying forward her values and spirit of service.

He also appreciated the work being undertaken by Manthan Welfare Association in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, skill development, social awareness and public welfare.

The Chief Minister said that the Guru has always been accorded the highest place in Indian culture. A teacher, he said, does not merely impart textbook knowledge but also gives students vision, confidence, values and direction in life. Teachers identify the potential of students and inspire them to move forward.

A teacher builds not just an individual student in the classroom, but the future of the entire nation,” the Chief Minister said. He urged teachers to provide quality education while also instilling values and life skills that help students become good human beings and responsible citizens.

Focus on Quality Education Under National Education Policy

CM Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant steps have been taken through the National Education Policy to make India’s education system modern, practical and quality-oriented.

He said Uttarakhand has also remained among the leading states in implementing the National Education Policy. The state government, he added, is focusing on improving the quality of education as well as ensuring a transparent and fair teacher recruitment process.

Parents Must Give Children Time, Values and Guidance

The Chief Minister urged parents to go beyond providing material facilities to their children and give them adequate time, good values, discipline and positive guidance.

He said a child’s bright future cannot be built through education alone. Schools and families must work together to ensure the holistic development of the next generation.

CM Urges Students to Dream Big and Stay Determined

CM Dhami encouraged students to dream big and work towards their goals with dedication, discipline and determination. He said failures should not discourage them; instead, students should learn from setbacks and continue moving towards their goals.

He said difficult paths often lead to great destinations and assured students that the state government would continue to provide them with opportunities and support to progress.

The Chief Minister urged students to pursue careers as teachers, scientists, doctors, engineers, sportspersons, entrepreneurs, civil servants or professionals in any other field, but stressed that their first priority should be to become good human beings and responsible citizens.

He expressed confidence that the students of Uttarakhand would make a significant contribution to the development of the state and the nation through their knowledge, talent, hard work and values.
