Adopt Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant’s Ideals and Discharge Public Service Duties with Honesty: DM
Pant’s contribution to the freedom struggle, social reform and nation-building will always remain a source of inspiration
Dehradun, September 10, 2026: A tribute programme was organised at the Dehradun Collectorate on the 139th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, the legendary freedom fighter, former Union Home Minister and first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, along with district-level officers and employees, paid floral tributes and offered flowers at the portrait of Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant. On the occasion, his significant contributions to the freedom struggle, social upliftment, literature and nation-building were remembered.
Pant’s Life and Ideals Remain an Inspiration
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan said that Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant was a multifaceted personality, an eminent thinker, visionary and an able statesman. During the freedom struggle, Pant played an important role in the movement against British rule and made significant contributions to the country’s struggle for independence.
He added that after independence, Pant continued to make remarkable contributions to society and nation-building as an ideal public representative and statesman. His ideals, thoughts and unwavering commitment to public service continue to inspire people even today.
The District Magistrate said that every citizen should draw inspiration from Pt. Pant’s ideals and work with sincerity, integrity and dedication. He emphasised that every citizen has an important role in safeguarding the unity, integrity and freedom of the nation. Performing one’s duties with dedication is the true tribute to Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant.
DM Calls for Transparency and People-Centric Administration
Dr. Chauhan said that the District Magistrate’s office is an important institution from the perspective of public service. The district administration plays a crucial role in effectively implementing government policies and welfare schemes at the grassroots level, while also conveying the problems, expectations and concerns of citizens to the government.
He called upon all officers and employees to give the highest priority to public interest and discharge their responsibilities with integrity, transparency, sensitivity and commitment. He stressed the importance of accountability and a citizen-centric approach in ensuring good governance.
Need to Connect Young Generation with Freedom Struggle
The District Magistrate said that it is a collective responsibility to make the younger generation aware of the glorious history of India’s freedom struggle and the significance of independence.
He said that the struggles, sacrifices and dedication of great freedom fighters can inspire young people to become more responsible citizens and contribute actively to nation-building.
