Dehradun, September 23, 2026: The Dehradun district administration has launched a special campaign to bring girls who have dropped out of school back into the mainstream of education. Under the initiative being implemented on the directions of District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, 444 dropout girls have been identified so far. Of these, 112 girls have already been re-enrolled in schools during the first phase, while the process of enrolling another 111 girls under the second phase is underway.
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan has directed officials of the Education Department to ensure that no girl is deprived of education due to family problems, financial difficulties or other social and personal circumstances. He instructed officials to identify such girls on priority and facilitate their admission to schools according to their age and educational level.

The District Magistrate further directed officials to ensure that the initiative does not remain limited to identifying dropout girls. The current circumstances of each identified girl should be assessed, and effective steps should be taken to complete the process of re-enrolling her in school. Wherever required, officials have also been asked to coordinate with the families concerned and encourage them to support the girls in continuing their education.
The initiative aims to reconnect girls with the education system whose studies were interrupted due to family, financial, social or other circumstances. The re-enrollment of 112 girls in the first phase is being seen as an important step in this direction. Preparations are underway to bring another 111 identified girls back to school in the second phase.
According to the district administration, reconnecting dropout girls with schools will provide them an opportunity to resume their education and work towards becoming self-reliant. Continued education can also help them develop skills and access better opportunities for their future.
The District Magistrate has emphasized that ensuring access to education for every girl in the district remains a priority of the district administration. The Education Department and other concerned departments have been directed to work in coordination and take effective action to ensure that eligible girls are brought back into the education system.
