Dhami’s Vision: Making the 38th National Games a Grand Success

DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is making extensive efforts to ensure the successful organization of the 38th National Games, which will be hosted by Uttarakhand. Scheduled to commence on January 28 and conclude on February 15, the event is set to be a landmark sports occasion for the state.

To promote the event and extend invitations, CM Dhami camped in New Delhi on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and personally invited him to attend the inaugural ceremony. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation and is expected to inaugurate the National Games.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister met Union Minister for Sports Mansukh Mandaviya to extend an invitation and discuss preparations. CM Dhami highlighted that over 10,000 athletes will participate in the games, which aim to foster a strong sports culture in the state. He emphasized that Uttarakhand is developing its sports infrastructure to meet international standards, ensuring world-class facilities for athletes.

During the meeting, the CM also requested financial assistance for constructing a high-altitude sports center at Deedapani in Almora and establishing multipurpose sports halls in every block of the state. Additionally, he sought approval for the operation of the ice-skating rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun and the upgrade of the adventure sports training center in Shivpuri. Union Minister Mandaviya assured CM Dhami of full support in promoting sports and developing sports infrastructure in Uttarakhand.

Later on Tuesday, the CM met Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri to invite him to the event. Demonstrating his commitment to the success of the games, CM Dhami also met Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha to address concerns regarding the event’s schedule.

The Uttarakhand government has taken significant administrative steps to ensure the smooth organization of the National Games. Special Principal Secretary Amit Sinha has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the event. The CM also made it a point to attend the unveiling ceremony of logo, anthem, tagline and jersey of the event  being hosted by the state.
