DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand tableau artists got second prize in cultural program held at the National Stadium, New Delhi.
In the competition organized on 22 January at National Stadium, New Delhi, tableau artists from various states and ministries presented cultural programs and dances based on the culture of their respective states. Uttarakhand state got the best second place award among the best 3 states in the competition.
After the formation of Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand tableau artists have received this award for the second time. Earlier, in the year 2018, Uttarakhand tableau artists had received the third place award. It is worth mentioning that under the leadership of K.S. Chauhan, Joint Director and Team Leader of Information Department, 16 artists from Uttarakhand state are participating in the Uttarakhand tableau in the Republic Day parade.
Chauhan mentioned that artists from different states of the country come to the Republic Day parade. These artists are given a cultural program competition by the Government of India at the National Stadium Camp, New Delhi. In which a team is given only 3 minutes 30 seconds to present programmes based on their folk culture. In this competition, Uttarakhand’s artists showcased “famous Jagar singing and folk dance Chhapeli”. Which was selected for the award by the committee constituted by the Government of India.
In this “famous Jagar singing and folk dance Chhapeli”, the glimpse of the folk culture of Uttarakhand state was liked very much by the committee, because of that Uttarakhand state could get this award.
Chauhan stated that the artists of the tableau have been rigorously practicing every day since 14 January for this competition. It is a matter of pride for the state of Uttarakhand to get this award by reaching the second place in the country, he added. The artists participating in the tableau of the state are very happy to get this award. After receiving the award in this competition, the artists of Uttarakhand State will now present cultural programmes in front of Rashtrapati Bhawan, Prime Minister’s residence, the Vice President, the Defence Minister and the Tribal Minister after 26 January.
It may be recalled that this year, in the Republic Day parade, Uttarakhand State will display a tableau on the theme of “Cultural Heritage and Adventure Sports”.
