UTTARAKHAND NEWS: CM Dhami flags off four heli services

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today flagged off four heli services. Through these services, air connectivity has been established from Dehradun to Nainital, Bageshwar & Mussoorie and Haldwani to Bageshwar.

DEHRADUN: CM Dhami, on this occasion, stated that these four heli services being started under the “Udaan” scheme will give impetus to tourism and economic development in the state. Better connectivity will bring positive changes in the lives of local people. Bageshwar, Nainital and Mussoorie are also important from cultural and spiritual point of view. The natural beauty, tranquil valleys, lush green mountains, historical temples and rich culture of these areas attract tourists from all over the country and the world. Nainital is famous for its picturesque lakes, famous religious places like Naina Devi Shaktipeeth and Kainchi Dham. The area of ​​Bageshwar, located at the holy confluence of the Saryu and Gomti rivers, is known for the sacred Bagnath temple and the famous Uttarayani fair. With the start of the heli service, tourists enjoying the natural and cultural heritage of these areas will now be able to reach here even more easily. 

The CM mentioned that it takes about 8 to 10 hours by road to reach these places from Dehradun. With the start of this service, the journey will be reduced to about 1 hour. In case of emergency, our people living in these areas will get a lot of help. He emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started the Udan scheme with the aim of enabling the common man to travel by air. This scheme has contributed significantly in strengthening air connectivity in the state. Under which air strips and heliports have been developed in many parts of the state. Work is being done towards operating heli services from 18 heliports in the state, out of which services have been successfully started at 12 heliports so far. Important areas like Gauchar, Srinagar, Chinyalisaur, Haldwani, Munsyari, Pithoragarh, Pantnagar, Champawat and Almora have been successfully connected through these heli services so far. He said that the heli services will not only facilitate transportation in the state but will also act as a lifeline for the remote and inaccessible areas of the state in times of natural calamity, he added. The government is continuously making efforts to promote domestic flights to further strengthen the air connectivity in the state as well as to expand international flights with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as a major destination at the global level, he further added.

On the occasion of the launch of these heli services, the Chief Minister also interacted with the people traveling through these services through virtual medium. The MLAs of the concerned areas, other public representatives and local people expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the launch of these services.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, Brij Bhushan Gairola, Mayor Dehradun Saurabh Thapliyal, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Sachin Kurve, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Chief Executive Officer UCADA Sonika, MLAs Suresh Gadiya, Parvati Das, Ram Singh Kaida and other public representatives were present through virtual medium.

Services will be operated seven days a week

Heli service from Dehradun to Mussoorie is being operated under the Uttarakhand Hawai Sampark Yojana, while the remaining three heli services are being operated under the Regional Sampark Yojana of the Central Government. A five-seater helicopter will provide services between Dehradun-Mussoorie, while a seven-seater helicopter will provide services for the remaining places. The heli service from Dehradun to Bageshwar, Nainital and Haldwani to Bageshwar will operate twice a day, seven days a week. While the Mussoorie Dehradun heli service will operate one flight per day in the first month.
