Uttarkashi: In a heart-wrenching incident, a woman of Nepali origin was swept away by the strong currents of the Bhagirathi River while filming a video reel at Manikarnika Ghat in Uttarkashi. The tragic event unfolded in front of her young daughter, who stood helplessly on the riverbank, calling out for her mother.
According to reports, the woman was standing in a precarious spot near the river’s edge when her foot slipped, causing her to fall into the fast-flowing waters. Despite the presence of bystanders, the powerful current carried her away within seconds before anyone could intervene.
Eyewitnesses stated that the woman appeared to be engrossed in creating content for social media when the accident occurred. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers associated with taking risks for online content, particularly near hazardous locations.
Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police rushed to the scene after receiving the alert and immediately launched a search operation. However, as of the latest updates, no trace of the woman has been found.
Authorities continue their efforts to locate her, while the incident has cast a somber mood across the region. Locals and officials are urging visitors to exercise caution and prioritize safety, especially near rivers and other risky areas.
