CM Dhami Flags Off Five Mobile Medical Units to Serve Remote Uttarakhand

Dehradun: In a major step toward strengthening healthcare accessibility in rural and remote areas, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday inaugurated five fully equipped Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) from his official residence in Dehradun. This initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing mission, “Healthy Uttarakhand, Prosperous Uttarakhand.”

These MMUs are designed to bring essential diagnostic and primary healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of residents in remote parts of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Tehri Garhwal. Operating six days a week, the mobile units aim to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved regions.

Out of the five MMUs, two each will operate in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, while one will serve Tehri Garhwal. Notably, one of the MMUs is exclusively dedicated to women’s health and will be staffed entirely by female healthcare professionals. This specialized unit aims to address the unique health concerns of women in marginalized communities.

The MMUs will be managed by the Common Service Centre (CSC) and funded by the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Initially, the service will be provided for a three-year period.

Speaking at the launch, CM Dhami described the initiative as a significant stride in addressing the shortage of medical facilities in rural areas. “These mobile medical units will play a crucial role in delivering timely healthcare to our people living in far-flung areas,” he said.

The inauguration event was attended by Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Director of Health Dr. Sunita Tamta, D.S.N. Murthy (Managing Director, Dhanush Health Care), Subhash Chandra (Deputy General Manager, PNB), Ashwini (Managing Director, Panacea Hospital Dehradun), and CSC State Head Deepak, among other dignitaries.
