UTTARAKHAND: CM Dhami’s Stern Warning from Tharali: “No Tolerance for Corruption or Negligence”

Tharali (Chamoli), June 2025 – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has once again reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to a “zero tolerance” policy against corruption and administrative negligence. Speaking at a public event in Tharali, CM Dhami expressed strong displeasure over the recent collapse of an under-construction bridge in the region and termed it a case of serious misconduct.

Calling the incident a grave breach of public trust, the Chief Minister said,

“The collapse of the bridge is not merely a technical error—it is a betrayal of the public’s hard-earned money and their faith. I have taken immediate cognizance of the issue and have suspended the three engineers responsible.”

CM Dhami issued a stern warning to government officers and employees, making it clear that any lapse in duty or negligence in developmental work will invite strict punitive action.

“Public money must be treated with the utmost accountability. Every rupee spent on development belongs to the people—we cannot and will not allow it to go to waste,” he stated firmly.

In a major decision aimed at reinforcing accountability, the Chief Minister also announced that the contractor responsible for the collapsed bridge will bear the entire financial loss incurred in the construction. He further emphasized that the state government is working to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and enforce stricter oversight in all public works projects.

This strong message from CM Dhami serves as a clear directive to all officials, engineers, and contractors involved in development works across Uttarakhand: negligence will not be tolerated, and accountability will be enforced at every level.
