UTTARAKHAND: Section 163 Enforced in Dehradun During President’s Visit, Violators to Face Action

Dehradun: In view of the visit of President of India to the state capital from June 19 to June 21, 2025, the district administration has enforced restrictions under Section 163 to ensure public safety and maintain decorum in sensitive areas.

Additional District Magistrate Jai Bharat Singh informed that during the President’s stay, maintaining a noise-free environment around the designated route and residence is essential. To this end, the surrounding area has been declared a noise-prohibited zone, with sound levels restricted to a maximum of 40 decibels.

The restricted zone includes the stretch from Mussoorie Diversion on Rajpur Road via President Niketan to Brahma Kamal Chowk, and from Brahma Kamal Chowk on Canal Road to Arun Dwar of NIEPVD, including the area from Balasundari Temple to the Canal Road branch of Nainital Bank. A 100-meter buffer on both sides of the road and all internal connecting areas between these locations will also fall under the restriction.

This order will remain in effect from 4:00 PM on June 19 until 1:00 PM on June 21, 2025, or one hour after the President’s departure, whichever is later.

The ADM clarified that the order has been issued unilaterally in the interest of security and public convenience. Violation of this directive will attract penal action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code.
