DM provides justice to widow Renu; growing public trust in administration’s swift actions

Dehradun, July 14: Inspired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s commitment to “public service above all,” District Magistrate Dehradun, Savin Bansal, continues to take prompt decisions in public interest, strengthening people’s trust in the administration.

A recent example emerged during the Janta Darshan program organized on Monday, July 7. Widow Renu appeared before the District Magistrate, seeking relief. She shared that her husband, Surendra Singh, who was employed as a regular Pariyavaran Mitra (Environment Friend) in the Dehradun Municipal Corporation, had passed away on April 17, 2025. With two young daughters and deteriorating financial conditions, Renu had applied to the Municipal Corporation for a job under the deceased dependent quota. However, despite several months passing, no action was taken on her application.

Taking serious note of the matter, DM Savin Bansal immediately summoned officials of the Municipal Corporation along with the Tehsildar. Expressing displeasure over the undue delay, he questioned why the appointment process was stalled when there is a clear provision under the deceased dependent quota. Calling it Renu’s legal right, the DM directed the MNA (Municipal Nodal Authority) to complete the appointment process without any further delay. He also instructed the Tehsil to immediately forward the necessary reports to the Municipal Corporation.

Following this intervention, Renu now stands hopeful of securing employment in place of her late husband.

Under the leadership of DM Savin Bansal, the Dehradun district administration is diligently addressing public grievances. The Janta Darshan program, held every Monday, is witnessing a large turnout, with problems often being resolved on the spot. Not just issues related to the Revenue Department, but also those pertaining to other departments, private companies, and institutions are now being brought forward, reflecting growing faith in this initiative.
