Dharali (Uttarkashi): Amidst the devastating disaster in Dharali area of Uttarkashi district, an emotional moment unfolded on Friday during the inspection of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, bringing tears to everyone’s eyes.
Dhanagauri Baraulia, a resident of Ishanpur in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, had come to Uttarakhand with her family to visit Gangotri. On August 5, due to the disaster, she got stranded in Dharali as roads were blocked by debris and strong water currents.
Acting promptly on the Chief Minister’s directions, relief and rescue teams swung into action. CM Dhami himself remained in the area for three consecutive days to oversee operations. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the teams, Dhanagauri and her family were safely rescued.
A day before Raksha Bandhan, when the Chief Minister was reviewing the situation in the affected area, emotional Dhanagauri tore a piece of her dupatta and tied it around CM Dhami’s wrist as a Rakhi. The heartfelt gesture moved everyone present.
Accepting the Rakhi with humility, CM Dhami said the state government stands firmly with every affected citizen in this challenging time and is fully committed to relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction work.
This incident, from a remote village like Dharali, has become an inspiring example of hope, faith, and social solidarity amidst adversity.
