Dehradun: BJP National Co-Treasurer and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Naresh Bansal chaired a crucial review meeting on Thursday with district officials regarding the organization of the MP Sports Festival (Sansad Khel Mahotsav) in Dehradun district. The meeting focused on preparations and timelines for the multi-level sporting events to be held under the initiative.
During the meeting, Dr. Bansal conducted a detailed review of the arrangements and directed officials to ensure the smooth and effective execution of the games at every level. As per the schedule finalized in the meeting, village-level competitions will take place on October 27, block-level events on November 12 and 13, and the district-level tournament will be held from December 20 to 25.
Highlighting the objective of the festival, Dr. Naresh Bansal said that the MP Sports Festival is being organized nationwide in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting fitness and discovering grassroots talent. He emphasized that the event will serve as a significant platform to identify and nurture new sportspersons from rural and urban areas alike.
Dr. Bansal called upon officials to take the initiative to the village level, encouraging youth participation and ensuring that budding athletes receive adequate exposure and training opportunities. He stated that initiatives such as Fit India and Khelo India have already strengthened the sports culture in the country, and the Sansad Khel Mahotsav is another major step in that direction.
He urged young athletes to register for various individual and team events through the Sansad Khel Mahotsav portal and participate actively to showcase their talent.
Among those present in the meeting were Abhinav Shah (Chief Development Officer, Dehradun), Vikram Singh (Project Director), A.S. Uniyal (Joint Director, Higher Education), Alok Mishra (Joint Director, Technical Education), Vinod Kumar Dhoundiyal (Chief Education Officer), Monica Nandal (Deputy Director, Mai Bharat), P.C. Pandey (District Youth Welfare Officer), Ravindra Bhandari (District Sports Officer, Dehradun), Sandeep Duklan (Assistant Coach), and Deepak Kumar (Football Coach) among others.
Dr. Naresh Bansal concluded by expressing confidence that the festival would not only inspire youth toward sportsmanship and fitness but also help in identifying emerging sports talent from every corner of Dehradun district.
