Doon Hospital on High Alert for Holi; Additional Doctors and Staff Deployed
Dehradun: Keeping in view the upcoming Holi festival, Government Doon Medical College Hospital has issued a special medical advisory and intensified preparedness to handle any emergency situation during Holika Dahan and the main Holi celebrations.
Hospital authorities have deployed additional doctors, nursing staff, and paramedical teams to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services during the festival. The administration has taken precautionary measures considering the rise in festival-related medical cases reported every year.
During Holi, cases related to chemical colour exposure, skin allergies, eye irritation, ear and throat infections, injuries caused by mishaps or unruly celebrations, and fractures often increase. In response, the hospital has been placed on alert mode with enhanced monitoring across departments.
Special attention is also being given to cases of food poisoning and gastrointestinal illnesses, which tend to rise due to excessive eating and unhygienic food consumption during the festival. The hospital’s emergency services will remain operational 24×7 to provide immediate medical assistance.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Ravindra Singh Bisht appealed to citizens to celebrate Holi responsibly while prioritizing health and safety. He advised people to avoid chemical-based colours and seek immediate medical attention in case of any health complications.
He further informed that physicians, orthopaedic specialists, and ENT experts have been directed to remain on alert throughout the festival period. Additional doctors, nursing personnel, and paramedical staff will remain stationed to ensure prompt treatment during emergencies.
The hospital administration has urged residents to enjoy the festival safely and approach emergency services without delay if any medical issue arises.
