Uttarakhand Police Awarded “President’s Police Colour”; CM Calls It a Historic Milestone
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed happiness and pride over the Uttarakhand Police being conferred with the prestigious “President’s Police Colour,” calling it a golden and historic chapter in the state’s journey. He said the honour is not merely an award but a national recognition of the force’s dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty.
The Chief Minister congratulated Director General of Police Deepam Seth along with all officers and personnel for this remarkable achievement. He noted that with this honour, Uttarakhand Police has joined the league of select police forces in India to receive this highest recognition for distinguished service.
Recognition of Excellence and Commitment
CM Dhami emphasized that the “President’s Police Colour” is awarded after a rigorous and multi-layered evaluation process. It assesses various aspects of policing, including law and order, crime control, internal security, disaster management, public safety, and technological innovation. The honour becomes a permanent symbol of pride, reflected on the police force’s flag and uniform.

Highlighting the difficult terrain and limited resources of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said the police force has performed exceptionally in maintaining law and order and effectively controlling crime. The adoption of modern technology and smart policing has further strengthened public trust.

He particularly mentioned the 2013 Kedarnath Disaster, where the police demonstrated exceptional courage, swift response, and humanitarian sensitivity, saving thousands of lives during one of the worst natural disasters in the region.

The Uttarakhand Police has also proven its capability in managing large-scale events like the Kumbh Mela, Char Dham Yatra, and Kanwar Yatra, ensuring smooth security, traffic, and crowd management. The force has also made notable progress in areas such as women’s safety, cybercrime control, tourism security, and community policing.
