The Election Commission of India has announced the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in 19 states across the country. In Uttarakhand, the revision of electoral rolls will be carried out on the basis of the qualifying date of July 1, 2026.

Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam said that as per the schedule issued by the Commission, preparatory works including printing of enumeration forms, training of election personnel, and other related activities will be conducted in the state from May 29 to June 7, 2026.

Thereafter, from June 8 to July 7, 2026, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct a door-to-door survey across the state. During this period, BLOs will distribute and collect enumeration forms to ensure that the electoral rolls are updated accurately and comprehensively.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that the draft electoral roll for Uttarakhand will be published on July 14, 2026. Following the publication of the draft roll, citizens will be allowed to file claims and objections between July 14 and August 13, 2026.

He further stated that the process of issuing notices and disposal of claims and objections will continue from July 10 to September 11, 2026. As per the Commission’s directives, the final electoral roll will be published on September 15, 2026.

Dr. Purushottam also said that Uttarakhand currently has 11,733 polling booths, against which political parties have already appointed 21,808 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to assist in the revision exercise.

The Special Intensive Revision campaign is considered a significant step towards ensuring a transparent, updated, and error-free electoral roll in the state.
