DLSA Conducting “Road Safety–Life Protection” and “Identity with Dignity” Campaigns from June 8 to 14

Dehradun:
Under the directions of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has launched two special public awareness campaigns from June 8 to June 14, 2026, namely “Road Safety–Life Protection” and “Identity with Dignity.” The initiatives aim to enhance legal awareness among citizens and promote a safer, more inclusive, and socially sensitive society.

According to the Secretary of DLSA Dehradun, the campaigns are designed to educate people about their legal rights, responsibilities, and the importance of social participation in building a secure and equitable community.

Focus on Road Accident Prevention and Timely Assistance

The “Road Safety–Life Protection” campaign seeks to raise public awareness about preventing road accidents, complying with traffic regulations, and ensuring timely assistance to accident victims.

As part of the campaign, citizens are being informed about the significance of the Golden Hour, the critical period immediately following a road accident during which prompt medical treatment can significantly increase the chances of saving lives.

The campaign also highlights the provisions of the Good Samaritan Law, which provides legal protection to individuals who voluntarily assist accident victims. In addition, awareness is being created regarding motor accident compensation claims, the cashless treatment scheme, and various legal provisions related to road safety and traffic management.

To maximize outreach, legal literacy and awareness programs are being organized at schools, colleges, village panchayats, community centers, and other public venues across the district.

Promoting Rights and Inclusion of Transgender Persons

The second campaign, “Identity with Dignity,” focuses on promoting awareness about the rights, dignity, and social inclusion of transgender persons.

Through this initiative, citizens are being educated about the provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, and the associated Rules, 2020. The campaign emphasizes equality, non-discrimination, and the protection of the fundamental rights of transgender individuals.

Awareness activities are also being conducted to encourage greater social acceptance and to ensure equal access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and public services for transgender persons.

Extensive Outreach Across the District

The campaigns are being implemented through a coordinated effort involving Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), panel advocates, and other stakeholders associated with DLSA Dehradun. They are conducting widespread awareness drives, community outreach programs, and legal literacy activities to ensure that information about legal rights and available support mechanisms reaches the maximum number of people.

Public Participation Encouraged

The District Legal Services Authority has appealed to citizens to actively participate in both campaigns and contribute toward building a safer, more inclusive, and compassionate society. The authority emphasized that issues such as road safety and social inclusion require collective responsibility and active public engagement.

Citizens seeking free legal aid, legal advice, or guidance may contact the NALSA Helpline at 15100 for assistance.
