CM Dhami Meets Injured Workers, Reviews Treatment at Gopeshwar District Hospital
Chamoli, August 14, 2026: Following the tunnel accident at the under-construction THDC tunnel in Mayapur, Peepalkoti, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Gopeshwar District Hospital and met the injured workers who had been safely rescued from the site.
The Chief Minister enquired about the health condition of the injured workers and spoke to them about the treatment and medical care being provided. He also held discussions with doctors regarding the medical facilities available at the hospital.
CM Dhami directed the medical team to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured workers and instructed that there should be no shortcomings in their care. He further directed doctors to continuously monitor their health and provide all necessary medical facilities and specialist care whenever required.
Safe Rescue of Trapped Workers Top Government Priority
The Chief Minister said that every worker’s life is extremely precious to the government and that all available resources are being utilised for rescue and relief operations.
He reiterated that safely rescuing every worker trapped inside the tunnel is the government’s highest priority and assured that no effort would be spared in the ongoing rescue operation.
CM Coordinates With Other States Over Workers’ Families
CM Dhami said he had personally spoken with the Chief Ministers of the states concerned to ensure that the families of the affected workers receive timely and accurate information about the incident and the ongoing rescue efforts.
He said the government stands firmly with the families of the workers and is committed to providing all possible assistance during this difficult time.
Magisterial Inquiry Ordered Into Tunnel Accident
The Chief Minister also informed that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the causes and circumstances behind the THDC tunnel accident.
He directed the concerned officials to maintain close coordination during the rescue operation and ensure that relief, medical assistance and other necessary support reach the affected workers without delay.
Badrinath MLA Lakhpat Singh Butola, District Panchayat President Daulat Singh Bisht, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Rajiv Pal and other senior officials and public representatives were present during the visit.
