Char Dham Yatra 2026: Grand Welcome for Pilgrims with the Spirit of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’; Dehradun Administration Begins Extensive Preparations

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Dehradun district administration has accelerated comprehensive preparations to ensure that the Char Dham Yatra 2026 is conducted in a smooth, well-organized, and safe manner.

District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal chaired a high-level review meeting at Rishiparna Auditorium with officials from all concerned departments and directed that all arrangements related to the Yatra be fully completed by April 15.

The DM emphasized that the Char Dham Yatra is not merely an administrative responsibility but an opportunity to serve devotees with dedication and ensure they experience the rich hospitality tradition of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.


No Shortage of Funds; Gap Funding Assured

The District Magistrate made it clear that lack of funds will not hinder preparations. Any department requiring additional budget must immediately submit a proposal, and the district administration will provide necessary financial support through gap funding to ensure seamless arrangements.


24×7 Registration Facilities; Mobile Teams to Be Deployed

To streamline pilgrim registration:

  • 30 registration counters in Rishikesh

  • 20 registration counters in Vikasnagar

  • All counters to operate 24 hours a day

  • Deployment of trained operators and adequate staff

  • Robust network infrastructure

  • Offline registration arrangements to remain available

  • Mobile registration teams to assist pilgrims

Queue management systems, shaded waiting areas, and proper seating arrangements will also be ensured at all counters.


Modern Facilities at Holding Areas and Transit Camps

Key holding areas including Rishikesh Transit Camp, IDPL, Katapathar, Herbertpur, and Nayagaon will be equipped with German hangars and essential facilities such as:

  • Medical check-ups

  • Food and clean drinking water

  • Toilets and sanitation

  • Resting arrangements

Self-help groups will be prioritized for food services, with support from the supply department during contingencies. Separate arrangements for food packets will also be made.


Focus on Medical Preparedness

The Health Department has been instructed to ensure:

  • Deployment of specialist doctors

  • Adequate paramedical staff

  • Sufficient ambulances and testing kits

  • Issuance of health advisories for pilgrims

Departments have been asked to promptly submit proposals for medical resource requirements.


Transport Arrangements Strengthened; Fitness & Green Card Mandatory

The Transport Department will:

  • Arrange adequate vehicles for the Yatra

  • Conduct mandatory fitness checks

  • Issue Green Cards for approved vehicles

  • Maintain a manual backup system for trip card generation

Shuttle services will operate between holding areas and main travel routes.


Strengthened Monitoring, Security & Information System

  • Deployment of nodal and sector officers for regular monitoring

  • Adequate police force, home guards, PRD personnel, and volunteers

  • LED screens at key locations for real-time information

  • Public display of hotel, dharamshala, ashram contact numbers, control room, and helpline numbers


Emphasis on Infrastructure & Basic Amenities

The National Highways authority has been directed to ensure proper dividers, parapets, lighting, and road safety measures along the Yatra route.

Clean drinking water will be arranged through TTSP units, water ATMs, and tankers at parking areas, holding zones, and check posts.

The Electricity Department has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adequate lighting at all key locations.


Administration’s Commitment: Safe & Pleasant Pilgrimage

The District Magistrate reiterated that arrangements will be regularly monitored and departments will be held accountable to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-managed pilgrimage for all devotees.

With coordinated efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Dehradun administration is committed to making Char Dham Yatra 2026 simple, accessible, and secure for every pilgrim.
