CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Leads Harela Plantation Drive at Malagram, Promotes Green Conservation
Reviews medicinal plant conservation, research and herbal tourism potential at Shri Dhanvantari Dham Herbal World Himalaya

On the occasion of the Harela festival, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Malagram in Yamkeshwar block of Pauri Garhwal district on Tuesday, where he participated in a large-scale plantation drive, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation and a greener Uttarakhand.
During the visit, the Chief Minister toured Shri Dhanvantari Dham Herbal World Himalaya, gaining first-hand information about its rare Himalayan medicinal plants, herbal biodiversity conservation initiatives, research activities, and Ayurveda-based innovations. He also inspected the meditation centre within the campus.
Highlighting Uttarakhand’s rich biodiversity, the Chief Minister said that the state’s unique medicinal flora and traditional Ayurvedic knowledge are invaluable assets not only for India but for the entire world. He emphasized the need for scientific conservation, sustainable utilization, and research to preserve these natural resources for future generations.
He stated that the state’s initiatives in medicinal plant conservation would strengthen environmental protection while promoting Ayurvedic research, herbal tourism, and sustainable livelihoods. Such efforts, he added, would create new employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth, farmers, and self-help groups.
Describing Harela as more than just a festival, the Chief Minister said it symbolizes people’s commitment to nature and environmental stewardship. He urged citizens not only to plant trees but also to ensure their long-term care and protection.
Located in Malagram, Shri Dhanvantari Dham Herbal World Himalaya is one of India’s unique herbal parks, conserving rare medicinal herbs collected from different Himalayan regions and across the country. The institution is emerging as a significant centre integrating traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific research while encouraging herbal education, conservation, and eco-tourism.
The programme was attended by Patanjali Yogpeeth founder Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Uttarakhand State Women’s Commission Chairperson Kusum Kandwal, Yamkeshwar MLA Renu Bisht, District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria, Senior Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Panwar, BJP District President Rajgaurav Nautiyal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chatar Singh Chauhan, along with public representatives, officials and a large number of local residents.
