CM Dhami honours doctors on National Doctors Day, calls them ‘Gods on Earth’

DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitated doctors from across Uttarakhand on the occasion of National Doctors Day at a programme organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday. Extending his wishes and congratulations to all doctors, the Chief Minister hailed them as life-givers who serve countless people with compassion, dedication and skill.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami described the medical profession not merely as a business, but as a “noble profession” — a symbol of service, compassion and commitment. “The trust, respect and reverence that people have towards doctors must be continuously strengthened. I urge all doctors to uphold through their conduct and service the image that society has given them by calling them ‘Gods on Earth,’” he said.

Highlighting the unique blend of knowledge, science and spirituality in Indian culture, the Chief Minister said that while our traditions are rooted in faith, they are equally the result of deep scientific thinking and research.

During the event, CM Dhami personally met each doctor present and honoured them for their contribution. Among the prominent doctors felicitated were Dr. R.K. Jain, Dr. Geeta Khanna, Dr. Sunita Tamta, Dr. Krishna Avatar, Dr. R.S. Bisht, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Ashutosh Sayana, Dr. Mahesh Kudiyal, Dr. Prashant and Dr. Nandan Bisht. Doctors from major government and private hospitals across the state attended the programme.
