CM Dhami Inaugurates ₹33.36 Crore Development Projects in Khatima | High-Tech Bus Station Launched

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 9 development projects worth ₹33.36 crore in Khatima, including the high-tech Maharana Pratap Bus Station, boosting infrastructure, connectivity, and employment.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for nine major development projects worth ₹33.36 crore during a public programme in Khatima, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to inclusive and infrastructure-led development in the Terai region.
Among the key projects inaugurated was the high-tech Maharana Pratap Bus Station, constructed by the District Development Authority at a cost of ₹11.27 crore. Describing the occasion as historic, the Chief Minister said the inauguration of the modern bus terminal on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti and Ghughutiya festival was a matter of pride and joy for the entire region.
“The construction of this bus stand was a long-cherished dream. I had personally announced and pursued this project, and today it has become a reality. This facility will make transportation more organized and convenient while creating new opportunities for local trade, tourism, and employment,” he said.

The Chief Minister announced several new development initiatives for the Nanakmatta Assembly constituency, including:

Vision for Khatima’s Overall Development
Chief Minister Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is setting new benchmarks in development. Infrastructure in key sectors such as roads, education, health, and drinking water is being strengthened from urban centers to remote mountainous villages.
“Khatima is my home. I began my journey of public service from here. Every village and street of this region is close to my heart, and I draw inspiration from its people to work tirelessly for the state,” he said.
Highlighting major achievements in Khatima, the Chief Minister noted:

He further informed that work on an international-level airport in Pantnagar will commence shortly. M.Com and M.Sc courses have been started at Government College, Khatima, and an Eklavya School has been established in the tribal-dominated area. The long-pending Jamrani Dam multipurpose project has been restarted to address drinking water and irrigation needs of the Terai region.
Efforts are also underway to establish an AIIMS satellite center and develop an industrial smart city in Khurpiya to boost regional growth.
Firm Stand on Law, Order, and Cultural Identity
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards unrest and malpractice. He said a strict anti-riot law has been enacted, ensuring recovery of damages from rioters themselves. The state has decided to abolish the Madrasa Board, allowing only those madrasas to function after July 1, 2026, which follow the prescribed government curriculum. More than 250 illegally operating madrasas have already been shut down.
He also spoke about Operation Kalnemi, aimed at taking action against individuals defaming Sanatan culture, and the implementation of the country’s strictest anti-cheating law, which has resulted in transparent recruitment and provided government jobs to nearly 27,000 youths over the past four and a half years.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code, ensuring equality, justice, and social harmony.

MP Ajay Bhatt and former MLA Dr. Prem Singh Rana congratulated residents on the inauguration of the bus stand, calling it a dream project of Chief Minister Dhami. They thanked the Chief Minister for naming the facility after Maharana Pratap and said Uttarakhand’s development model is now being followed by other states.
