CM Dhami Calls Union Budget 2026–27 a Roadmap for ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Uttarakhand’
Tourism, manufacturing, AYUSH, green energy, skill development, employment and urban infrastructure to get fresh momentum
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the media at the Bharatiya Janata Party office on Balveer Road, described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a visionary and transformative roadmap towards the goals of Viksit Bharat @2047 and Atmanirbhar Uttarakhand. He said the budget strengthens the nation’s spirit, self-confidence and long-term development outlook.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, stating that the increase in capital expenditure (Capex) in the budget would accelerate infrastructure development and lay a strong foundation for long-term economic growth at both national and state levels. He added that the budget reinforces the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat while also strengthening India’s strategic autonomy and sovereignty.
CM Dhami highlighted that the three core pillars of the budget—balanced and inclusive growth, capacity building of the underprivileged, and the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”—present a clear roadmap for the holistic upliftment of border and remote regions, rural areas, women, youth, senior citizens, children and marginalized sections of society.
He noted that special provisions for the development of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities will particularly benefit Uttarakhand’s urban centers such as Dehradun, Haridwar and Haldwani. The establishment of women’s hostels in every district will strengthen women’s safety, education and empowerment. Initiatives like Ease of Doing Business and trust-based governance will improve the investment climate, boost employment opportunities and encourage greater public participation.
The Chief Minister further stated that targeted policy measures in the tourism sector will generate large-scale employment opportunities in Uttarakhand. Promotion of AYUSH, pharma, handloom, khadi and local products will strengthen the rural and hill economy. The special focus on green energy will provide a major boost to the green economy in a mountain state like Uttarakhand, which is rich in forest resources and natural wealth.
CM Dhami also said that Uttarakhand’s interests have been duly taken into account in line with the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission. Proposals and demands submitted by the state government to the Centre from time to time have been reflected in the budget directly and indirectly, demonstrating the spirit of cooperative federalism.
Concluding, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Union Budget 2026–27 will play a crucial role in taking Uttarakhand to new heights in the areas of employment, investment, exports, skill development and urban infrastructure, and will prove to be a milestone in achieving inclusive, balanced and sustainable development in the state.
