Remove Encroachments from Government Land Immediately: Dehradun DM Issues Notice to 12 Departments
Dehradun: The Dehradun district administration has intensified efforts to protect government land and assets from encroachment and ensure accurate demarcation of their boundaries. District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan chaired a review meeting with officials of concerned departments at the Collectorate auditorium on Wednesday and directed strict compliance with the orders of the High Court and the state government.
The District Magistrate directed all departments to undertake satellite-based polygon mapping of their respective government assets to accurately define their boundaries. The mapped details must be uploaded compulsorily on the Uttarakhand Government Asset Management System (UK-GAMS) portal.
Dr. Chauhan made it clear that any encroachment appearing on government assets through the UK-GAMS mapping process must be addressed immediately. Concerned departments were instructed to take prompt action to remove encroachments and ensure that government land does not remain under unauthorized occupation.
Show-Cause Notices to 12 Departments
During the review, it was found that 12 departments had not yet started the polygon mapping process for their government assets. The District Magistrate directed officials to issue immediate show-cause notices to these departments.
The departments include Vigilance, Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate of Urban Development, Information Technology Agency, State Estate Department and UCOST, among others.
The District Magistrate further directed that departments with more than 100 assets pending for polygon mapping should be issued warning notices and instructed to complete the work on priority.
16 Departments Complete Mapping, Work Underway in 41
Officials informed the meeting that 16 departments in the district have completed 100 percent of their polygon mapping, while the process is currently underway in 41 departments.
The District Magistrate directed all remaining departments to expedite the work and complete the pending mapping on a priority basis. Accurate digital mapping will help establish clear boundaries of government assets and facilitate identification and removal of encroachments.
Personal Accountability of Officials to Be Fixed
Dr. Ashish Chauhan stressed that compliance with High Court directions must remain a top priority. He said that protecting government assets and keeping them free from encroachment is the responsibility of the concerned departments.
He warned that if the required progress is not achieved within the stipulated timeframe, personal accountability of the concerned departmental officials will be fixed, and strict action will be taken as per rules in cases of negligence.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Smrita Parmar, MDDA Joint Secretary Gaurav Chatwal, District Economics and Statistics Officer Shashikant Giri, PWD Executive Engineer Neeraj Kumar, Jal Sansthan Executive Engineer Rajendra Pal, District Sports Officer S. Gurung, District Education Officer Premlal Bharti, DPO Jitendra Kumar, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, and officials from other departments.
