Dehradun–Mussoorie Road Closed Until Further Orders After Heavy Rain Damages Road at Pani Wala Bend

Mussoorie, July 20, 2026: The Dehradun district administration has closed the Dehradun–Mussoorie main road until further orders after continuous heavy rainfall severely damaged a section of the road near Pani Wala Bend (Waterfall Point).

According to an order issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mussoorie, the road has become unsafe due to excessive rainfall, posing a serious risk to commuters and increasing the possibility of accidents and damage to life and property.

In view of public safety, all vehicular movement, including public and private transport, has been prohibited on the Dehradun–Mussoorie route with immediate effect. The restriction will remain in force until further orders.

The administration has directed the concerned departments to assess the extent of the damage, carry out restoration work, and ensure that the road meets all safety standards before reopening it to traffic.

Authorities have appealed to residents and tourists to avoid traveling on the Dehradun–Mussoorie road, follow official advisories, and rely only on verified updates regarding weather and traffic conditions. Travelers have also been advised to use alternate routes wherever possible.

The road will be reopened only after safety inspections are completed and the damaged stretch is declared safe for public movement.
