With President Droupadi Murmu’s proposed two-day visit to Uttarakhand scheduled for June 12 and 13, the Dehradun district administration has completed preparations and placed all departments on high alert to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the visit.
As part of the final review process, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan conducted an on-site inspection of Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Ashiana on Thursday. During the visit, he assessed security arrangements, infrastructure readiness, and essential civic services, while issuing necessary directions to concerned officials.
According to the official itinerary, President Murmu will arrive at Rashtrapati Niketan in Dehradun on June 12. During her visit, she will inspect the progress of the state-of-the-art Rashtrapati Udyan being developed across 132 acres within the Rashtrapati Ashiana complex. The President is expected to closely review the ongoing development works and infrastructure facilities being created at the site.
On June 13, the President will attend the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony will mark the commissioning of cadets from the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate carried out a detailed review of arrangements related to electricity supply, drinking water, fire safety, transportation, forest management, and other essential services. Emphasizing the importance of flawless execution, Dr. Chauhan stated that no negligence or lapse would be tolerated during the President’s visit.
He directed all concerned departments to ensure 100 percent preparedness and submit fitness and clearance certificates related to their respective services, including power, water supply, fire safety, and other critical infrastructure, well before the scheduled visit.
The District Magistrate also instructed implementing agencies to complete all pending infrastructure works within the stipulated timeframe and ensure that every facility is fully operational before the President’s arrival.
Rashtrapati Udyan Set to Become a Landmark Attraction
A major highlight of President Murmu’s visit will be the Rashtrapati Udyan project, currently under development at the Rashtrapati Ashiana campus. Spread over approximately 132 acres, the world-class park is envisioned as a major destination promoting environmental conservation, wellness, tourism, and cultural activities in Dehradun.
The project is progressing rapidly toward completion and is expected to emerge as a new identity for the city in the coming years.
Modern Facilities Under Development
The upcoming park will feature a range of modern recreational and wellness facilities, including a themed park, a contemporary cafeteria, and a food court offering diverse culinary experiences.
For fitness enthusiasts, a 2,700-meter-long jogging, cycling, and walking track is being developed, while an 840-meter-long boardwalk will allow visitors to enjoy the natural surroundings and scenic beauty of the area.
The park will also include an 800-seat open-air theatre for cultural events, a dedicated yoga pavilion for wellness activities, attractive viewing decks, a waterfall deck, and a modern sports zone equipped for various sporting activities.
Infrastructure and Visitor Facilities
To facilitate smooth visitor movement, three grand entrance gates are being constructed within the park. In addition, a large and modern parking facility is being developed to accommodate visitors efficiently.
The District Magistrate directed the executing agency to ensure timely completion of all infrastructure components while maintaining high-quality standards.
