Police Crack Down on Delivery Boys in Dehradun; 165 Fined for Traffic Violations

Dehradun: In a major crackdown, Dehradun Police issued challans to 165 delivery personnel on Tuesday for violating traffic regulations. The enforcement drive was conducted following complaints of suspicious activities involving delivery boys, particularly during night hours.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh said, “We received multiple complaints about delivery boys being involved in suspicious activities at night. Acting on these reports, we carried out a special verification and enforcement drive.”

During the operation, police teams from various stations checked the documents of delivery personnel delivering food and packages across the city. As part of the crackdown:

165 delivery boys were fined under the Motor Vehicles Act for violating traffic rules.

48 challans were forwarded to the court.

65 vehicles were seized, including five for drunk driving.

47 individuals were fined a total of Rs 25,500.

14 delivery boys without proper police verification were penalized under Section 83 of the Police Act, leading to fines amounting to Rs 1,40,000.

40 others were fined under Section 81 of the Police Act, and Rs 10,000 was collected.

The SSP added that delivery personnel were strictly instructed to operate only during permitted hours at night and to avoid any involvement in illegal activities.

This drive is part of the police’s broader initiative to enhance safety and maintain order, especially during late-night hours in the city.
