UTTARAKHAND: CM Dhami Hands Over Appointment Letters to 220 Medical Officers

Calls for dedication, compassion and patient-friendly healthcare services.

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Sunday, distributed appointment letters to 220 newly appointed medical officers during the Uttarakhand Medical Health Empowerment Campaign organized at the Chief Sevak Sadan.

Extending his best wishes, the Chief Minister described the occasion as a significant milestone in the doctors’ lives. He said, “You are not just medical professionals but health sentinels of Devbhoomi. It is your responsibility to make healthcare affordable, accessible, and of high quality through dedication, service, and compassion.”

Quoting renowned poet Gumani Pant’s lines “Pratham deh ko jatan kar lo, phir sadhana hogi” (First, take care of the body, then spiritual pursuit is possible), Dhami urged the doctors to use their knowledge and skills to heal people and improve public health.

CM Dhami informed that more than 11 lakh patients have already benefited from cashless treatment worth over ₹21 crore under state schemes. Specialized facilities for cardiology and neurology are being provided in Srinagar, while advanced cancer care is available in Haldwani. Emergency medical services through helicopters are proving lifesaving in remote disaster-hit areas, as witnessed recently in Dharali.

He further added that initiatives like free health check-ups, modernization of health centers, recruitment of paramedical staff, and expansion of telemedicine services have given a new dimension to healthcare delivery in the state. The government aims to establish at least one medical college in every district to ensure quality healthcare at the local level.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Uttarakhand is achieving new milestones in every sector and playing a crucial role in fulfilling the vision of a Developed India.

Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that out of the 220 newly appointed doctors, except for four under the differently-abled quota, all others will be posted in remote areas. He added that recruitment for more doctors, nurses, and support staff will soon be carried out. From September 17 to October 2, large-scale blood donation camps will be organized at 220 locations across the state, along with health camps in every village, benefiting over 25 lakh people.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that with the availability of more support staff, doctors will be encouraged to serve in remote areas as well. He remarked that doctors enjoy respect second only to God, and hence, they must strive to strengthen public trust further.

The program was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Khajan Das, Rajkumar Pori, and Savita Kapoor, State Vice President of National Health Mission Suresh Bhatt, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, DG Health Dr. Sunita Tamta, along with medical officers and senior officials.
