Dehradun. The Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (UKBOCW) has successfully settled 8,299 applications under a special campaign for various welfare schemes for workers and their dependents. On Sunday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami transferred an amount of ₹24,85,19,700 (approx. ₹25 crore) directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) with a single click.
The financial assistance was provided under schemes including the Daughter’s Marriage Assistance Scheme, Death Assistance Scheme, Maternity Assistance Scheme, and Education Assistance Scheme.
Labour Secretary Sridhar Babu Addanki and Labour Commissioner Prakash Chandra Dumka informed that such a large-scale settlement campaign has been conducted for the first time at the Board level. Within just one month, 8,299 applications were resolved. They further assured that in the future, all applications would also be processed promptly and within the stipulated time.
Chief Minister Dhami praised the Board’s initiative and congratulated the Labour Department officials for the state’s remarkable progress on the Labour Cess Management Portal and E-Shram Portal. He directed that along with addressing workers’ grievances swiftly, the department must also ensure better coordination between industries and workers so that employment opportunities remain easily accessible and minor issues are resolved immediately.
On this occasion, Minister of State Geeta Rawat, Deputy Labour Commissioner Madhu Negi Chauhan, Vipin Kumar, Umesh Chandra Rai, K.K. Gupta, Kamal Joshi, and other Assistant Labour Commissioners were present. From HDFC Bank, Sumit Goyal, Ishan Sharma, and Rohit Thapliyal also attended.
