SIR Review in Dehradun: Hearing Completed in Over 96% of Cases Against Notices Issued
Draft electoral roll prepared for 1.19 million voters across 10 Assembly constituencies; notices issued in 547,942 anomaly and no-mapping cases
Dehradun, August 31, 2026: A review meeting on the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was held at the Collectorate auditorium in Dehradun on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah and was conducted in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttarakhand.
The meeting reviewed the progress of SIR-related activities, including cases of anomalies and no mapping identified in the electoral rolls, notices issued to voters, and the disposal of claims and objections.
Officials informed the meeting that a draft electoral roll covering 1,190,805 voters has been prepared for all 10 Assembly constituencies in Dehradun district. Of these, 395,772 voters were identified in anomaly-related cases, while 152,170 voters were identified under no-mapping cases. Consequently, notices have been issued in a total of 547,942 cases.
It was further informed that hearings have been completed in more than 525,000 cases against the notices issued. This means that over 96% of the notified cases have already undergone the hearing process.
Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah directed officials to complete the hearings and necessary action in the remaining cases within the prescribed timeline and in accordance with the established procedure.
He emphasized that transparency, impartiality and strict compliance with the Election Commission’s guidelines must be ensured throughout the SIR exercise. He also directed officials to properly verify relevant records in anomaly and no-mapping cases before taking further action.
59,978 Claims and Objections Received
The meeting also reviewed claims and objections received through Forms 6, 7 and 8 between July 15 and August 13, 2026. During this period, a total of 59,978 applications were received.
The applications included:
- Form 6: 39,025 applications
- Form 7: 10,235 applications
- Form 8: 10,718 applications
The Chief Development Officer directed officials to examine all claims and objections in accordance with the prescribed rules and ensure their quality disposal within the stipulated timeframe.
He specifically stressed the need for proper verification of records in cases related to no mapping and anomalies. Officials were also directed to regularly monitor the work of field-level personnel and ensure that the name of no eligible voter is unnecessarily affected during the revision process.
The CDO further emphasized maintaining electoral integrity, transparency and accountability at every level of the SIR exercise.
Assistant District Election Officer Narendra Devli, CPI(M) representative Anant Akash, Congress representative Sunil Jaiswal, BSP representative Satendra Singh, Bhim Rao and Satendra Chopra, along with the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), participated in the meeting, with the EROs joining through online mode.
