UTTARAKHAND NEWS: Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal submits resignation to CM Dhami

Dehradun: Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal has tendered his resignation amid mounting pressure and widespread protests over his controversial remarks. Aggarwal met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the CM’s residence on Sunday and formally submitted his resignation, which was subsequently forwarded to the Governor for further action.

Prior to his resignation, Aggarwal held an emotional press conference at his residence in Dehradun, where he defended his statements made during the budget session in the Vidhan Sabha last month. He maintained that his words were misinterpreted and that he never intended to target any particular region or community in Uttarakhand. Expressing his dismay, he stated that certain groups on social media had deliberately twisted his remarks to create a misleading narrative against him.

Aggarwal highlighted his longstanding association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his contributions to the Uttarakhand statehood movement.

Before making his resignation official, Aggarwal, accompanied by his wife, visited the Uttarakhand Martyrs’ Memorial at Rampur Tiraha in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. There, he paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the creation of Uttarakhand. He reiterated his commitment to the state’s development and pledged to continue working for peace and harmony in the region.
