Special Electoral Roll Revision Drive Begins in Dehradun; Applications for Voter Registration, Corrections and Deletions Open from July 14 to August 13

The Election Commission of India, in accordance with the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttarakhand, has launched the Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Rolls in Dehradun district based on the qualifying date of July 1, 2026. The draft electoral roll was officially published on July 14, 2026, marking the beginning of the claims and objections period.
District Magistrate and District Election Officer Dr. Ashish Chauhan informed that citizens can submit applications for inclusion of new names, corrections in voter details, deletion of names of deceased, shifted or ineligible voters, and other necessary changes from July 14 to August 13, 2026.
Eligible voters may submit applications through the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), or Booth Level Officer (BLO). Citizens can also apply online through the Election Commission of India’s official website https://voters.eci.gov.in or the Voter Helpline App.
Prescribed Forms
- Form 6: Registration of new voters.
- Form 7: Deletion of names of deceased, shifted or ineligible voters.
- Form 8: Correction of name, address, photograph, or other voter details.
Dr. Chauhan urged all eligible citizens to verify their names in the electoral roll and submit applications within the stipulated period if any corrections or additions are required. He emphasized that the inclusion of every eligible citizen in the electoral roll is essential for strengthening democracy.
He also appealed to political parties, elected representatives, educational institutions, voluntary organizations, and the general public to actively participate in making the electoral roll accurate, updated, and error-free.
The District Magistrate directed officials to conduct extensive voter awareness campaigns during the revision period, especially targeting first-time and young voters, while ensuring timely disposal of all applications received during the special drive.
