Uttarakhand Government Accelerates Efforts to Develop the State as a Global Wedding Destination: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the Uttarakhand Government is working rapidly to establish the state as a world-class wedding destination under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Wed in Uttarakhand” vision. The initiative aims to boost tourism, generate employment, strengthen the local economy, and attract domestic as well as international investment.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing the “Grace Hindustan 2.0 Uttarakhand” National Wedding Professionals Conference, organized by the International Convention of Event Industries (ICEI) at PunarNava Wellness Resort, Kimadi, near Dehradun.
Welcoming wedding planners, event professionals, tourism entrepreneurs, and investors from across India, he said the conference would provide a significant platform for expanding wedding tourism and attracting investments in Uttarakhand’s tourism sector.
Dhami said the two-day deliberations among industry experts would help identify new opportunities for tourism growth. He congratulated the ICEI team and PunarNava Wellness Resort founder Acharya Ashish Semwal for organizing the event and expressed confidence that the recommendations emerging from the conference would strengthen the state’s tourism strategy.
The Chief Minister emphasized that marriage in Indian culture is not merely a social event but a sacred union of two souls. Uttarakhand’s spiritual heritage, scenic beauty, and rich cultural traditions make it an ideal destination for memorable and meaningful weddings.
He highlighted Triyuginarayan Temple, believed to be the divine wedding site of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, along with Omkareshwar (Ukhimath), Mussoorie, Tehri, Ramnagar, and several other locations, as emerging world-class destination wedding venues.
Dhami noted that destination weddings create opportunities beyond hotels and resorts by generating employment for artisans, folk artists, florists, photographers, homestay operators, taxi drivers, caterers, and local businesses. The government therefore considers wedding tourism a powerful tool for promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening rural economies.
He also stressed that Uttarakhand is promoting wellness tourism alongside wedding and spiritual tourism. Projects such as Kedarkhand and Manaskhand temple development, Haridwar-Rishikesh Corridor, Vivekananda Corridor, Golju Corridor, Yamuna Corridor, Sharda Corridor, winter tourism initiatives, and proposed Spiritual Economic Zones in Garhwal and Kumaon will further enhance the state’s tourism ecosystem.
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand has emerged as one of India’s most investor-friendly states due to improved law and order, transparent governance, and business-friendly policies. He highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening Triple R (Road-Rail-Ropeway) connectivity through the Char Dham All Weather Road Project, Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Project, ropeway developments, airport expansion, and heliport infrastructure.
He assured investors and event organizers of full administrative support through the state’s Single Window Clearance System and invited stakeholders to partner in transforming Uttarakhand into one of the world’s leading wedding destinations.
