Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2026, scheduled from July 30 to August 11, the Uttarakhand Health Department has finalized extensive medical and emergency healthcare arrangements to ensure a safe, smooth, and hassle-free pilgrimage for millions of devotees.

Following the directions of the district administration, the Health Department has coordinated with all concerned agencies to establish a robust healthcare network along the Kanwar route. Special medical surveillance will be maintained at major halt points and designated checkpoints to provide immediate medical assistance to pilgrims in case of emergencies.

During the yatra, Medical Relief Posts (MRPs) will be established at key locations along the pilgrimage route. Each MRP will be staffed with qualified doctors, physicians, pharmacists, staff nurses, and ward attendants to provide first aid, medical consultation, emergency treatment, and essential healthcare services round the clock.

The department has also ensured adequate availability of essential medicines, first-aid kits, emergency medical equipment, and other healthcare resources throughout the pilgrimage period. All medical officers and healthcare personnel have been instructed to remain on high alert during the entire yatra.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma said that providing quality healthcare services to Kanwar pilgrims remains the department’s top priority. He informed that 24×7 Medical Relief Posts will be operational at Shyampur Check Post and IDPL, where doctors and healthcare staff will be deployed in rotational shifts.

He further stated that ambulance services will also be stationed at the Dehradun Bus Stand and Railway Station to ensure prompt transportation of patients to hospitals whenever required.

The Health Department, in coordination with the district administration, aims to provide uninterrupted medical support and emergency response services so that devotees can complete their spiritual journey safely and comfortably.
