Dehradun Intensifies Electoral Roll Revision; 547,000 Voters Issued Verification Notices
Special Booth-Level Hearings from August 3; Claims and Objections to Be Resolved by September 11
10 Electoral Registration Officers and 222 Assistant EROs Deployed; Final Electoral Roll to Be Published on September 15
Dehradun, July 30, 2026:
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Dehradun district has gained momentum, with the Election Department taking extensive measures to ensure a clean, updated, and error-free voter database. District Magistrate and District Election Officer Dr. Ashish Chauhan reviewed the progress of the campaign during a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties at Rishiparna Auditorium on Thursday.
Dr. Chauhan informed that, as per the draft electoral roll published on July 14, the mapping of 1,190,805 electors has been completed across the district. During the comparison of the 2003 and 2026 electoral rolls, discrepancies, incomplete records, and unmatched voter details were identified. Consequently, 547,000 voters are being issued individual verification notices.
To maintain transparency, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting door-to-door verification and delivering notices personally. Each delivery is being digitally documented by uploading photographs through the Election Commission’s designated mobile application. As of July 30, nearly 74,000 notices have already been served, while the remaining notices are expected to be distributed within the next two to three days.
Special Booth-Level Verification Camps from August 3 to 29
To facilitate corrections in voter details and resolve claims and objections, special hearing camps will be organized at polling booths from August 3 to August 29 under the supervision of Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.
Eligible citizens will also be able to submit Form-6 for fresh voter registration during the camps. Dr. Chauhan stated that citizens will have sufficient time until September 11 to correct their records. All claims and objections will be disposed of by the same date, after which the electoral roll will be frozen.
The final electoral roll will be officially published on September 15, 2026.
2,045 Polling Stations Across 10 Assembly Constituencies
The district comprises 10 Assembly constituencies with a total of 2,045 polling stations. To ensure a transparent and smooth revision process, 10 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 222 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) have been deployed.
Political Parties Urged to Appoint BLA-2 at Every Booth
The District Election Officer appealed to all recognized political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) at every polling station to strengthen transparency and public confidence in the revision process.
Representatives of political parties also requested the administration to provide the list of citizens who have been issued verification notices. The District Election Officer assured them that the request would be considered in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Election Officer Abhinav Shah, Assistant District Election Officer Narendra Prasad Devali, along with representatives of Congress, BJP, BSP, Aam Aadmi Party, and other political parties.
