Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Alert: Administration on High Alert Across Eight Districts of Uttarakhand
CM Dhami Directs All Agencies to Stay Prepared; SEOC Issues Emergency Guidelines to District Administrations
Dehradun: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, waterlogging, and possible flash floods in parts of Uttarakhand on July 31. The districts likely to be affected include Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh.
Following the weather alert, the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) has directed all concerned district administrations to remain on high alert and ensure complete preparedness to deal with any emergency.
In compliance with the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, SEOC has issued detailed guidelines to all District Magistrates. The districts have been instructed to keep all disaster response teams, including SDRF, Police, Fire Services, Health Department, and other emergency agencies, fully prepared for immediate rescue and relief operations.
District administrations have also been directed to maintain close surveillance over landslide-prone and other vulnerable locations, ensure continuous monitoring of weather conditions, and restore blocked roads on priority. Coordination among the Police, SDRF, Public Works Department (PWD), Rural Works Department (RWD), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Health Department, and other concerned agencies has been emphasized.
The state government has instructed district authorities to give the highest priority to the safety of school students. Depending on local weather conditions, District Magistrates have been authorized to take necessary decisions to ensure public safety.
Residents and tourists, particularly those travelling in hilly regions, have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas, and follow official weather advisories before planning any journey.
Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman, appealed to the public to strictly follow advisories issued by the IMD and district administration. In case of any emergency, citizens may contact the State Emergency Operations Centre or use the emergency helpline numbers.

The state administration has assured that the weather situation is being monitored round the clock and that all necessary rescue and relief measures will be implemented promptly whenever required.
