Prioritize Local Products During Festivals: CM Dhami
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami purchases locally made products from Self-Help Group stalls at Sashakt Bahana Utsav
Says buying local products will strengthen women’s livelihoods, promote entrepreneurship and boost the local economy
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday visited stalls set up by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Sashakt Bahana Utsav at the Secretariat and purchased a range of locally made products. On the occasion, he appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to give priority to local products during the upcoming festive season and contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Vocal for Local’.
The Chief Minister said that products prepared by the women of Uttarakhand through Self-Help Groups reflect the state’s rich culture, traditions, skills and local identity. By purchasing these products, people not only encourage local production but also contribute directly to strengthening the livelihoods and economic independence of women associated with these groups.
CM Dhami said the festive season provides an important opportunity to promote locally made products and create stronger markets for products prepared by women entrepreneurs, artisans and local producers. He urged people to prefer local products while purchasing gifts, decorative items and articles for daily use during festivals.
He said every purchase of a locally made product contributes to increasing the income of a family, strengthening a woman’s self-employment and supporting the local economy. Encouraging local products at the grassroots level can also generate more opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship across the state.
The Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign has created greater awareness and confidence among people about locally produced goods. The Uttarakhand government is also continuously working to provide better market opportunities to products made by women Self-Help Groups, local artisans and entrepreneurs.
Appealing to citizens to make local products a priority this festive season, CM Dhami urged them to encourage others to do the same and help transform ‘Vocal for Local’ into a people’s movement.
He said promoting locally made products will not only strengthen women’s economic empowerment but will also help preserve Uttarakhand’s traditional skills and cultural heritage while giving a boost to the state’s grassroots economy. This, he added, will further strengthen the vision of Aatmanirbhar Uttarakhand and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
