Major Road Accident in Chakrata: Car Falls 35 Metres into Gorge, Five Injured; Two Critical

Dehradun: A major road accident took place in the Chakrata area of Dehradun district on Saturday morning when a car went out of control and plunged around 30 to 35 metres into a deep gorge near Lalpul, before Sahia. Five people travelling in the vehicle were injured in the accident, with two reportedly sustaining serious injuries.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) received information about the accident through Dial-112. Acting promptly on the alert, an SDRF rescue team from Chakrata, led by Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh, rushed to the accident site. A local police team also reached the spot and joined the rescue operation.

Upon reaching the site, the rescue team found the car lying around 30-35 metres below the road in a deep gorge. Five people were travelling in the vehicle, including three men and two women.

Two of the occupants sustained serious injuries, while the remaining three suffered comparatively minor injuries.

The SDRF team, in coordination with the local police, descended into the gorge and launched a rescue operation under challenging conditions. After considerable effort, rescuers reached all five injured occupants and safely brought them out of the gorge.

The injured were subsequently transported by ambulance to a hospital for medical treatment.
