Dehradun: In view of the red alert issued by the weather department for various districts of Uttarakhand on September 26 and 27, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appealed to residents and tourists to remain particularly cautious during the period of adverse weather.

The Chief Minister urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during the red alert period. In case travel is unavoidable, he advised people to first check the prevailing weather and road conditions and proceed only after ensuring that the route is safe.

Appealing to tourists, CM Dhami said they should avoid visiting sensitive and landslide-prone areas in view of the prevailing weather conditions. Tourists have also been advised to strictly follow directions and advisories issued by the local administration.

Stay Away from Rivers, Streams and Waterlogged Areas

The Chief Minister cautioned people against going near rivers, streams, seasonal channels, gad-gaderas and waterlogged areas during heavy rainfall. He urged people not to attempt to enter or cross areas where water is flowing rapidly.

Given the possibility of landslides in hilly areas, the Chief Minister directed people to exercise extreme caution on vulnerable roads and at other sensitive locations. He also appealed to parents to ensure that children do not go near rivers, streams, seasonal water channels or other potentially dangerous locations.

Districts to Remain on 24×7 Alert

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed all District Magistrates and concerned departments to remain on 24×7 alert and continuously monitor vulnerable areas.

He instructed the administration to keep all necessary preparations in place so that relief and rescue operations can be launched immediately in the event of any emergency. Rescue teams, essential equipment, JCBs, machinery and other resources should be kept ready at strategic locations, while continuous coordination among all concerned departments should be ensured.

Continuous Monitoring of Char Dham Routes and Tourist Destinations

The Chief Minister has specifically directed officials to continuously monitor water levels in rivers and streams, landslide-prone areas, mountain roads, Char Dham travel routes and major tourist destinations.

He said arrangements should also be kept ready in advance to evacuate people from vulnerable areas to safer locations, if required, depending on the weather situation.

CM Dhami said the state government is continuously monitoring the weather situation, with the safety of residents as its highest priority. He appealed to people not to panic but to remain fully alert and cautious.

He urged the public to follow weather warnings and instructions issued by the weather department and district administrations. In case of an emergency, people should immediately inform the administration, prioritize their own safety and encourage others around them to remain safe as well.
