Haridwar to Get Three Major Rail Services; CM Dhami Thanks Centre for Strengthening Rail Connectivity
Dehradun: Rail connectivity in Uttarakhand is set to receive a significant boost with the approval of three important train services for Haridwar. The Railway Ministry has approved the extension of the Bandra Terminus–Delhi Sarai Rohilla Garib Rath Express to Haridwar, along with the operation of the Haridwar–Veraval AC Express and Haridwar–Okha AC Express.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conveyed the decisions to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami through a letter.
Welcoming the development, Chief Minister Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the three services. He said the expansion of rail connectivity would further strengthen Uttarakhand’s transport infrastructure and provide greater convenience to passengers travelling to and from the state.
The Chief Minister said improved railway connectivity has a direct and positive impact on Uttarakhand’s religious tourism, general tourism and economic activities. Haridwar, being one of the state’s major pilgrimage and tourism centres, receives a large number of pilgrims and tourists from different parts of the country throughout the year.
According to the Chief Minister, the addition and extension of these services will provide greater travel options for pilgrims, tourists, students, traders, businesspersons and other passengers. Better rail connectivity is also expected to facilitate movement between Uttarakhand and important destinations across the country.
CM Dhami said that with the continued support of the Central Government, railway services and connectivity are being progressively strengthened across Uttarakhand. He described the latest approvals as an important step towards making travel to the state more convenient while supporting its tourism and economic potential.
The three approved services are expected to further enhance Haridwar’s connectivity with western and other important parts of the country, strengthening the city’s role as a major railway and pilgrimage hub.
